Less is Moore – Use some Metal

metal

I made this card to fit with a challenge over at Simply Less Is Moore, use Some Metal. The metal I have used is gilding flakes. I sponged on some IndigoBlu FlitterGlu onto a peice of card and covered with gilding flakes, I used a mixture of small circle dies to cut out and glued ono the card. The sentiment is from Scribbled Sentiments Collection. I went over the sentiment with a gold/bronze gel pen and added some more scribbles at the top right hand corner of the card.

Anemones

grandma's card

To make this card I used the Anemone set from Sheena Douglas , which has coordinating stamps and dies. I coloured the flowers with Cosmic Shimmer paints, Purple Violet, Midnight Blue, Rose Hue,Yellow Sun and White Pearl. I mixed colours until a got a leafy green to paint the leaves cut and stamped from the same Anenome set.  I used an 8 x 8 card blank and cut a lacy appeture using the Portuguese Background die from Creative Expressions. This comes as a set of 5 dies , I used the largest decorative die, the middle decorative die and the centre cut out rectangle die. I did this so that the patterns are cut out but remain “in” the card. I attached some velum to the inside of the front and stamped my sentiment. I attached the flowers using both foam pads and tacky glue, I do find that with this type of paint the foam pads on their own do not stick for long!!

Smile

3 colour butterfly

A clean and simple card today but one I really like for the bright colours, it really does make me smile 🙂  I used snippets of white and yellow card to punch the butterflies, I actually have loads in a pot, I can’t bear to throw out “bits” so every scrap of card I cut out butterflies or hearts or stars or flowers and put them in pots ready to use, the pots are getting fuller !!

But back to this card…. I coloured the white butterflies green and purple to fit with the challenge I had in mind, I shaped the wings on the butterflies and played arround with positioning until I was happy and glued them down. I stamped the sentiment ,with Memento Grape Jelly. The stamp is from Visible Image Make Me Smile Set.

One for my brother

maleroom 1

I made this card for my brother whose birthday it is tomorrow.  I cut 3 pieces of card and stamped the image (center panel), using Spectrum Noir pens to colour,(BG5 BG3 and BT6). I used some liquid pearls for the stars and some glossy accents for the little triangles. I cut out 3 presents and ballons and coloured with BT6, I added some spots and stripes using a black gel pen. I glued these onto the other two peices of white card and edged all 3 with Pear Green Promarker and then the black gel pen. I matted this onto another piece of white card edged again with Pear Green Promarker. I matted onto white card the matted onto more white card edged with BG3. I cut out the tab in white card and matted onto a slightly larger peice that I had coloured using BT6. I added a teeny tiny circle coloured with BG4. I placed this tab under all the layers. Finally I added some strings to the ballons with the black gel pen.

Wings

mm butterflyI made this card  a bit at a time, I had no idea where I was going with it so just kept on playing till I was happy with how it looked. I started with some texture paste and a dotty stencil onto a pattern paper, before the paste dried I sprinkled on some brusho’s and spritz with water, when dry I used Antiqued Bronze and Dusty Concord Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stains and also some pearlized white spritzing ink from Docrafts. I used my scissors to distress the edges. I stamped the sentiment twice using Black and Grape Jelly Archival, doing this gives the sentiment a shadow.   For the butterfly I embossed a stencil from Sweet Poppy Stencils and cut out. I used Creative Expressions gilding wax to colour the butterfly. The colours I used were Vintage Plum, Graceful Lilac,Cast Bronze, and Enchanted Gold. I added little sequins stars to the flowers and used 3 colours of liquid pearls roughly mixed on the body of the butterfly. For the background I used a script embossing folder and gave it a layer of gesso, it was pink card, not the right colour so I changed it with gilding wax and sprays! I used Dusty Concord spray and the guilding waxes I used were Graceful Lilac, Graceful Pink,Deep Red, Pearl Moon and Cast Bronze.

Each week Color Throwdown have a colour challenge over on their blog,

Below is my entry,

CT 343

I used a Sixxiz die,( Labels Long 659131 ) to cut banners in the colours of this challenge, using a silver gel pen I faux stitched to add a little detail, placing them  behind another banner cut from the same set of dies on which I had used a little Barn Door Distress ink to add more colour ! I cut a small shape that seemed to fit within the red and stamped my sentiment and again faux stitched to match the banners. Finally I added lots of small dots cut from the scraps using a hole punch, I really love the dots on this and think I will be doing that again 🙂
