Purple Birthday

A double page spread in my large Dylusions journal I made for the Dylusions Facebook Challenge for September.

I started by adding Lemon Zest and Crushed Grape Dylusion paint with a Distress blending tool. When dry, I added Lemon Zest, After Midnight and Calypso Teal thru a Dylusions  Small Bubbles stencil, turning the stencil over and pressing it down onto my page, drawing round some of the cirlcles with a gold pen.  Around the edge I used one of the stamps from the Dylusions Further Around The Edge set colouring with pens and paint.  I drew the cake and coloured with Fresh Lime Bubblegum Pink and Lemon Zest. I added circles using the mask and Lemon Zest on the bottom layer, hand drew using a black marker on the middle layer and stamped using Crushed Grape and a stamp from the Dylusions Basic Backgrounds.  The girl is from a set called These Boots Are Made… which I stamped onto copy paper coloured and cut out. The head I drew based on the head from the Ruby Rainbow. The stamp from this set wasn’t quite big enough hence why I drew it. The small words are from an old stamp set the CAKE is Dylusions Dy’s Alphabet, stamped onto copy paper coloured with paint. A bit of outlining around the words and two candles and all done . This did take some time as I had to keep waiting for paint to dry…. but that gave me time to do other crafty things 🙂 Heres another picture.. a close up of the face and words. I hope you like my pages and try using Dylusions products for yourself , they really are lovely to work with. dylusions-purple-birthday-1

Christmas in July

Crazy … ? possible but I did these journal pages for the challenge over at Dylusions Facebook Challenge, Christmas in July with a black border.

I wanted to do something in my new black journal so came up with the idea of writing out a bit from How the Grinch stole Christmas, a book by Dr Seuss. On the left hand side I used the Dylusions journal block to make my border and draw the white lines.  The Grinchy picture is from the back cover of the book photocopied, fussy cut and glued on using multi medium.

On the right page I used a Dylusion xmas set of stamps and stencil.Using the stencil I added holly and snowflakes around the page with a silver pen. I used the journal block again to add a smaller border to match the left side.

Using Cut Grass Dylusion paint I stamped Merry Christmas, edging it with a white pen ( when it was dry!)  I used Postbox Red, Cut Grass and Lemon Zest Dylusion paint to stamp the stockings. When I want to stamp with Dylusions paint I use a Ranger blending tool to apply the paint to the stamp, a little paint is all that is needed 🙂  A little silver pen to the tops of the stockings to finish them off, the holly stamp stamped in Cut grass, using the paint to colour it.  Lastly I added a “soundwave” border. Although Dylusions do a stamp  just like this ( which I have ) I chose to draw this so it fitted as I wanted.  I hope you like it.

Blooming Pink

The third journal page I did for the Dylusions Facebook Challenge.

Dylusions pink flower

The Challenge was Pink, Red, Hearts and Flowers, so I started this page using Bubblegum Pink, Postbox Red and Cherry Pie Dylusion paints to cover the page, I used a babywipe to blend the colours. I used a  Dylusion stencil ‘Small Hearts’ and Cherry Pie paint around the edges of the page.  I aslo stamped using White Linen paint and a heart stamp which came from a Dylusions  xmas set of stamps.   I drew the flower, firstly with a pencil ( I’m not that confident! ) and then going over the lines with a black sharpie pen. I added a smudge of White Linen Dylussion paint to the petals and then I doodled 🙂  I started with a white pen and dots, each different doodle I did in a several  leaves trying not to have two the same touching each other. The little daisys and button hearts are a Card-io stamps. This was a great page to doodle I really enjoyed it and will definitely try the same techniques again. I hope you like it and have a go yourself.Dylusion pink flowers 2

Sowing seeds

Page two of the three journal pages for Dylusions Facebook Challenge.

Dylusion sow the seeds

Sowing Seeds

This page started as a ‘cleaning’ page, lots of cleaning the distress tool pads that I used for other pages, Bubblegum Pink, Postbox Red and Cherry Pie.  The wavy line are a Dylusions stamp from a set called ‘write between the lines’. I added white dashes and black dots and went over the ‘bumps’with a black pen. The hearts and circle that make up the flower are from another Dylusions stamp  set called ‘love struck Lucy’ I stamped onto copy paper coloured with Dylusions paint, I chose colours that were in the image and stuck on with matt multi medium. I went around the edges with both a black and white pen to make it stand out a bit more. The picture I found on the internet, printed, cut out and glued on using matt multi medium. I used a grey gelato crayon around the edges blending with my finger. I edged the whole page with a black marker and lastly added the words.

Pink and Red, Hearts and Flowers

The challenge over on the Dylusions Facebook Challenge page this month is Pink & Red, Hearts & Flowers. As I was chosen as a winner from April’s challenge, I get to be a guest designer this month. I shared 3 journal pages all very different, I hope you like them .

Dylusions hearts 1

He Loves Me

I wanted to do a black page as I love the look of lots of white pen  on the black Dylusions paint. This will actually be a set of four pages,  I used a Dylusion journal block to cut away the wavy edges and added some doodles to tie all the pages together. I’ll post pictures when I finish all of them but for now I have the first page done 🙂

First I painted the whole set of pages black using a Tim Holtz Distress Blender and Black Marble Dylusion paint. I left it overnight as it needs to be really dry to use a white pen on. I used a Dylusion stencil, Hearts Border, for the hearts and the daisy petals. The half circles are also from the same stencil.  I cut the petals out from copy paper and layered them up to form my daisy. Then I doodled some lines and circles  in the hearts and half circles and coloured some of the hearts with Bubblegum Pink, Cherry Pie and Postbox Red. I also cut out some of the hearts and stuck them on to create some layers….page two  in my next post…..

Memory Book

So today I’m sharing with you a memory book I made for one of my daughters school friends who is leaving  this summer as she is moving away. I hope it gives you some inspiration for layout ideas if you want to try making one yourself.

Claudia 1

Starting with the front cover…. I kept it simple (and stylish ?), this little girl doesn’t like pink !! so I chose blue with silver for her name. The flowers are a diecut and appear through out the book. I used Shaded Lilac Distress Ink to colour ( using the die as a stencil).

I started with a simple layout with the main focus on the sentiment, this is for an 8 year old so added some colour with my little caterpillar made up from hand cut circles and the butterflies.

Here I used some more of the flowers, some are die cut with yellow glitter glue in the centre and others I used the cut out as a stencil and drew with a white pen. Under the purple flaps I haven’t lifted are photos of her class mates with room for the class photo that was being taken the monday after I gave this to her.

claudia6 Such pretty paper, it comes from a pad called Serendipity by Dovecraft. I added lots of tags that she can add her own pictures and notes to. I added a photo of the school and its logo.

Three different layouts to give you ideas, the key to these pages are coordinating papers and embellishments. Two more pages to show you….

More pockets for tags and spaces for her to write, although I did add a message after I had taken this photo! I really enjoyed making this gift and the recipient (and her mum) loved it.

Dylusions challenge- green + animal

May…. a very busy month in our family for birthdays, so a lot of cards, pressie and food ! Back on the diet next month 🙂 Its also my birthday so it also means lots of new crafty goodies for me, some of which I used to make my entry for this months Dylusions Facebook challenge. This month the challenge was green and animals,  I had an idea of using an old wolf stencil for the animal part and used Dirty Martini and Fresh Lime Dylusion paints for the green part. I started by covering the page with the greens using a Distress blending tool. Next I randomly stamped  with Vibrant Turquoise and one of the stamps from Basic Backgrounds from Dylusions. When dry I used stencils and Black Marble paint to cover the page in black allowing the background to show through. Dylusions wolf

And then I started with my white pen…. first tiny circles around the “moon”, then using Dylusions journal block the lines. I filled the spaces inbetween the lines with circles and hexigons, the hexigons where done using Dylusions Small Honeycombe stencil.  Whilst doing this journal page I cleaned my blending tools on another page, so I ended up with two journal pages.

Dylusions birds

My second page started as a cleaning page so the colours are the same, but I also used Cut Grass. Using Dylusions Put A Bird On It  and Shrooms sets, I stamped and cut out two birds and loads of leaves. The words are from another Dylusions stamp set called The Right Words. I coloured with Dylusion paints, mixing Cut Grass and After Midnight to get a darker green for the top bird. I stuck my peices on using matt medium and left to dry. Then I started with the white pen again!! I coloured in all the circles on the leaves, I had intended just to highlight a few but got carried away ! I aslo highlighted around the words and the birds. Two different pages using different techniques but both very enjoyable to do, I hope you like them both.
