So finally I get some spare time to craft, other than wedding invites that is, which as yet I can’t show on here. Just enough time to complete a page in my journal.
I used Dylusions paints in Fresh Lime, Dirty Martini, Cut Grass and Polished Jade to create the backgound with a ranger distress tool and a Dylusions stencil called Diamonds. The birds are a Dylusions set called Put a bird on it which I stamped onto thick paper, fussy cut out and coloured using Spectrum Noir pens and also a metalic pink pen.
I used a stencil called Fond of Foliage to draw the leaves and coloured and doodled with various pens. The words are from another Dylusion stamp set call The Right Words, I stamped onto thick paper and cut up sticking onto my page to form a triangle sort of shape with the birds. I used a black pen to scribble around the words. The inspiration for this page was the Dylusions Facebook Challenge, which this month was GREEN and TRIANGLES and FOLIAGE.
Crazy … ? possible but I did these journal pages for the challenge over at Dylusions Facebook Challenge, Christmas in July with a black border.
I wanted to do something in my new black journal so came up with the idea of writing out a bit from How the Grinch stole Christmas, a book by Dr Seuss. On the left hand side I used the Dylusions journal block to make my border and draw the white lines. The Grinchy picture is from the back cover of the book photocopied, fussy cut and glued on using multi medium.
On the right page I used a Dylusion xmas set of stamps and stencil.Using the stencil I added holly and snowflakes around the page with a silver pen. I used the journal block again to add a smaller border to match the left side.
Using Cut Grass Dylusion paint I stamped Merry Christmas, edging it with a white pen ( when it was dry!) I used Postbox Red, Cut Grass and Lemon Zest Dylusion paint to stamp the stockings. When I want to stamp with Dylusions paint I use a Ranger blending tool to apply the paint to the stamp, a little paint is all that is needed 🙂 A little silver pen to the tops of the stockings to finish them off, the holly stamp stamped in Cut grass, using the paint to colour it. Lastly I added a “soundwave” border. Although Dylusions do a stamp just like this ( which I have ) I chose to draw this so it fitted as I wanted. I hope you like it.
The third journal page I did for the Dylusions Facebook Challenge.
The Challenge was Pink, Red, Hearts and Flowers, so I started this page using Bubblegum Pink, Postbox Red and Cherry Pie Dylusion paints to cover the page, I used a babywipe to blend the colours. I used a Dylusion stencil ‘Small Hearts’ and Cherry Pie paint around the edges of the page. I aslo stamped using White Linen paint and a heart stamp which came from a Dylusions xmas set of stamps. I drew the flower, firstly with a pencil ( I’m not that confident! ) and then going over the lines with a black sharpie pen. I added a smudge of White Linen Dylussion paint to the petals and then I doodled 🙂 I started with a white pen and dots, each different doodle I did in a several leaves trying not to have two the same touching each other. The little daisys and button hearts are a Card-io stamps. This was a great page to doodle I really enjoyed it and will definitely try the same techniques again. I hope you like it and have a go yourself.
Page two of the three journal pages for Dylusions Facebook Challenge.
This page started as a ‘cleaning’ page, lots of cleaning the distress tool pads that I used for other pages, Bubblegum Pink, Postbox Red and Cherry Pie. The wavy line are a Dylusions stamp from a set called ‘write between the lines’. I added white dashes and black dots and went over the ‘bumps’with a black pen. The hearts and circle that make up the flower are from another Dylusions stamp set called ‘love struck Lucy’ I stamped onto copy paper coloured with Dylusions paint, I chose colours that were in the image and stuck on with matt multi medium. I went around the edges with both a black and white pen to make it stand out a bit more. The picture I found on the internet, printed, cut out and glued on using matt multi medium. I used a grey gelato crayon around the edges blending with my finger. I edged the whole page with a black marker and lastly added the words.
The challenge over on the Dylusions Facebook Challenge page this month is Pink & Red, Hearts & Flowers. As I was chosen as a winner from April’s challenge, I get to be a guest designer this month. I shared 3 journal pages all very different, I hope you like them .
He Loves Me
I wanted to do a black page as I love the look of lots of white pen on the black Dylusions paint. This will actually be a set of four pages, I used a Dylusion journal block to cut away the wavy edges and added some doodles to tie all the pages together. I’ll post pictures when I finish all of them but for now I have the first page done 🙂
First I painted the whole set of pages black using a Tim Holtz Distress Blender and Black Marble Dylusion paint. I left it overnight as it needs to be really dry to use a white pen on. I used a Dylusion stencil, Hearts Border, for the hearts and the daisy petals. The half circles are also from the same stencil. I cut the petals out from copy paper and layered them up to form my daisy. Then I doodled some lines and circles in the hearts and half circles and coloured some of the hearts with Bubblegum Pink, Cherry Pie and Postbox Red. I also cut out some of the hearts and stuck them on to create some layers….page two in my next post…..
I made this card for someone that loves pink, it was inspired by the “playing” I’ve been doing in my art journal. In my journal I was creating a black page with white doodles, I really liked the page as yet unfinished, and thought it would make a nice card. As the intended recipient loves pink I used Cherry Pie Dylusions paint for the backgound colour. The flowers were done using a stencil and black and white pens. I edged the card with the black pen, mounted onto a card blank and added some gems.
Over on Dylusions Facebook Challenge, the theme for this month is trees and yellow.
I’m fairly new to all this journalling and Dylusion loveliness so I very much played till I was happy with what I had created 🙂
I used lemon zest, squeezed orange, and fresh lime Dylusion paints for the background, applying and blending with a Ranger ink blender. When dry I used a circle stencil to add some more lemon zest. My tree is made up of random arrows from a Dylusions stencil called “Arrows”. I used a Sharpie pen for this and extended the lines down to form my tree. I wrote some words within these arrows also with the Sharpie, if fact all the black is with the Sharpie! The border around the tree was formed using Dylusion journal block. I used a white pen to add some stripes. I decided the outer space needed to be filled 🙂 so added some circles of all sizes and doodled inside some and filled others.
To finish off this page I printed off some words and coloured with lemon zest before glueing in place amongst my roots. Lastly I outlined the words with black and added a dotty border. Then I sat back and smiled> I love creating just for me and although I’m sharing how I did this, it is quite lovely knowing that I made this just because I wanted to and it went wherever it went. I hope you like my page and give journalling a go if you haven’t tried it before.
